Another animation background - establishing scene at a dodgy motel.

Not a huge amount of extra painting involved in this matte painting, but a lot of stitching/photomanip and a complete relight.

All photos provided were originally taken at day time.

For anyone else interested in relighting photos/paintings: It's much easier to work with overcast photos (diffuse light).

It's based on a photo ;)
Some of my background work (for an animation project) is based on photos. This one probably has the least painting though so I put it up as a photomanip.

It is indeed a messed up place. A few bodies have been found at the actual location this was based on! It's near Perth even.
